Raising vital funds for research at Barrow

The Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation presented the 2011 Barrow Grand Ball on January 15 at the Arizona Biltmore. The black-tie dinner and dance is one of Arizona’s premier fundraisers. The co-chairs of the 2011 Barrow Grand Ball were Shän Francis and Angela Melczer.

The first Women’s Board fundraiser was a masked ball at Casa Blanca Inn on New Year’s Eve of 1965, the year the Women’s Board was established. Since then, the Women’s Board has raised more than $40 million for research at Barrow Neurological Institute through the Ball, including $1.65 million in 2011.

Proceeds from the Ball support a wide variety of research projects at the institute, providing important funding for promising and innovative scientific studies.

The next ball is scheduled to be held Jan. 21, 2012, again at the Arizona Biltmore. The chairs for the ball are Nita Francis and Nancy Gaintner. Call the Foundation at 602-406-3041 for more information.
