Charity dinner, auction, and tournament raise $400,000 for hospital
An 18-member committee, chaired by Tom Reahard president of Symmetry Software, worked hard to make this year’s Lou Grubb Friends Fore Golf (LGGFG) charity event a success. As a result more than $400,000 was raised to benefit St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Barrow Neurological Institute.
This year’s events were held April 23-24, 2009 at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort and McCormick Ranch Golf Club. Lou Grubb and his extended family and friends were in attendance.
It included the new "Starlight Gala on the Plaza" kick-off dinner and auction on Thursday evening at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, emceed by Tara Hitchcock of 3TV and Dennis Sage. The dinner was followed by an 18-hole tournament and awards dinner the next day at McCormick Ranch Golf Club.
Volunteer Roy Schott led the live auction of six fabulous packages during the event. In addition, dozens of items were part of a silent auction. The items were donated by vendors in our community that have worked with the LGFFG for years and came through, even in these difficult financial times, to make a contribution.
