Letter From The President | 2025

Return to Impact Report

Dear Friends,

At Barrow Neurological Institute, every breakthrough begins with you. Over the past year, I’ve met patients who regained independence after life-changing surgeries, students who discovered their passion for neuroscience through our internship programs, and families who found hope amid devastating diagnoses. These moments are all possible because of your dedicated support and generosity.

Together, through your support, Barrow Neurological Foundation raised over $28 million from more than 3,000 generous donors, transferring $23 million directly to Barrow Neurological Institute to advance research, patient care, and education. This included a significant contribution from the Women’s Board of Barrow Neurological Foundation, which marked 60 years of extraordinary support with its record-breaking 2025 Barrow Grand Ball, raising $14.4 million, $3.2 million of which was dedicated to Alzheimer’s disease research.

We held the inaugural Barrow Open, raising $1 million to establish the Sports Biomechanics Spine Laboratory. We also launched a novel study that uses artificial intelligence-based cognitive assessments to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease earlier. And, our specialists partnered with hospitals in East and South Africa to expand access to advanced neurosurgical and neurological care. The Ivy Brain Tumor Center expanded that global reach, by providing renewed hope for patients across more than 100 medical centers in 10 countries worldwide through its Phase 3 Gliofocus Study.

Behind all these achievements, lives are transformed. Patients like Bill Daggett, who regained his ability to sculpt through deep brain stimulation (DBS) after Parkinson’s disease threatened his art. Students like Juliana Camino Castro, who gained hands-on research experience at Barrow and returned to her home country of Brazil empowered to pursue a career in neuroscience.

Every gift, every story, and every act of generosity advances neuroscience and changes lives. On behalf of our physicians, scientists, nurses, and staff, thank you for your support. Together, we are building a future where hope is not just possible — it is inevitable.

With gratitude,

Signature
