It’s been six years since I received the cochlear implants, and my whole life has changed…I don’t feel isolated or alone again. I cannot thank Barrow and Dr. Stevens enough for that.

Your Support Fuels Work in the Auditory Neuroscience Lab

Hearing is essential to our connection with others and the world around us. Not having that ability can be devastating. Left untreated, hearing disorders can cause social isolation, reduced employability, anxiety and depression, and cognitive decline (Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias).

The Auditory Neuroscience Lab is committed to advancing our understanding of the neuroscience of hearing loss and its treatment. Teaming with top researchers worldwide, the team aims to enhance hearing implant technology through research, clinical trials, and industry collaborations. The centerpiece of the Auditory Neuroscience Lab is the Anechoic Research Chamber. This state-of-the-art chamber will enable the team to conduct novel investigations to better understand the impact of hearing loss on mental health, cognition, and quality of life.
