Mal’s professional career was in the consumer staples sector. He “apprenticed” for 25 years at Procter & Gamble, where he ultimately became Global President of the Health and Beauty Care Sector and a member of the Corporate Executive Committee.

In 1996, Mal moved to Phoenix to lead The Dial Corporation as an independent New York Stock Exchange company. In retirement since 2001, Mal’s principal activities have been teaching a leadership development course at the ASU W.P. Carey School of Business and serving as advisor to the chairman of Otsuka Holdings Corporation, a Japanese health and beauty care company based in Tokyo. He has also served as a director on several U.S. corporate boards as well as local community service boards.

Mal is a graduate of Columbia University and is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain. His interests now center on fly fishing and golf.
