Barrow Neurological Foundation

Sharon Stone is an Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award and Nobel Peace Summit Award Recipient, New York Times Best- Selling Author and activist. She is especially passionate about brain research, as she credits Barrow Neurological Institute President and CEO, Michael T. Lawton, MD, for saving her life.

In September 2001, Sharon suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that led to a massive stroke. Time was running out and her chances of surviving surgery were slim, but Dr. Lawton decided to take the chance and completed the surgery successfully, saving her life. Sharon never forgot that. Since her near brush with death, Sharon has become a strong advocate for brain health and warning women of the risks of stroke. She is now taking her dedication to supporting brain research one step further as a member of the Foundation’s Board.
