Support Brain Cancer Research

May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month, and Barrow Neurological Foundation is ramping up its efforts to raise funds for cutting-edge research at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center at Barrow Neurological Institute.

With over 250,000 new cases annually, and a 5-year survival rate of less than 5%, glioblastoma is simultaneously the most common and the most lethal brain cancer in adults. Unfortunately, no new drugs have been identified in over 25 years, and conventional clinical trials still require years to determine efficacy.

The Ivy Brain Tumor Center was founded with a singular goal: to discover new treatments for glioblastoma and other incurable brain tumors. Through its innovative Phase 0 clinical trials program, the Ivy Center gives patients and their families something they’ve never had before—answers in days, not years. In just eight years, the team has screened more than 7,000 patients, and over 700 patients have enrolled in Ivy Center clinical trials. It’s a faster, smarter path to lifesaving breakthroughs, fueled by philanthropy and designed to change the future of brain cancer.

“The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is committed to pioneering new standards of care that redefine possibilities in brain cancer treatment,” says Nader Sanai, MD, Director of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center and Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at Barrow Neurological Institute. “Our research is made possible through collaboration with generous donors like you. Together we’re instilling a sense of hope in patients who so desperately need it.”

For the entire month of May, Barrow Neurological Foundation is teaming up with generous community partners and donors to raise awareness and funds for the Ivy Center. Hensley Beverage Company and Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers are sponsoring a “Dine & Donate” promotion at each of the 17 Arizona Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers locations. Throughout May, $1 from the sale of each specialty burger or 22oz Michelob Ultra draft will be donated to the Ivy Center.

On May 18, the Arizona Diamondbacks will host a special Brain Tumor Awareness Night game at Chase Field as they take on the San Francisco Giants. The Ivy Center will take part in a special on-field presentation, throw out the ceremonial first pitch, and be recognized throughout the game.

Through a generous commitment from The Rick Oehme Foundation, each donation made to the Ivy Center in May will be matched up to $100,000 — doubling your gift’s impact. Join us in discovering tomorrow’s treatments today by making a tax-deductible donation.
