PHOENIX, Ariz. – July 27, 2026 – Barrow Neurological Foundation is proud to announce that it has received a $400,000 grant from the Arizona Cardinals Foundation to establish a transitional care platform for intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) at Barrow Neurological Institute. This critical support marks the launch of a three-year commitment from the Arizona Cardinals Foundation, dedicated to funding collaborative programs that promote inclusion and create equal opportunities for individuals living with IDDs.
The new Barrow IDD Care Platform is designed to enhance services and empower patients by providing personalized education and tools to understand their condition better, advocate for themselves, and manage their healthcare as independently as possible. A primary goal of the platform is to support patients, families, providers, and care partners as they develop a successful healthcare plan that works for the patient and offers families and caregivers significant support during crucial milestones throughout a lifetime of care. This platform will also establish Barrow as a trusted destination where families can confidently depend on our transition care team as their children move through critical life stages.
This impactful initiative resonates deeply within the Arizona Cardinals organization. Bob Hamer, Executive Director of the Arizona Cardinals Foundation, highlighted the pressing need: “It’s estimated that 1 in 20 people in the U.S. lives with an IDD. As this community grows and ages, more support will be needed – we’re committed to making a lasting, sustainable impact for the IDD community throughout Arizona.”
The commitment from the Arizona Cardinals Foundation extends beyond mere support, providing the critical initial investment needed to establish this vital care platform, which will have a lasting impact on the entire IDD community.
