2025-2026 Principal Officers

Mitch Sayare, PhD

Board Chair
Dr. Sayare was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of NASDAQ-listed ImmunoGen, Inc. (IMGN), a billion-dollar biotechnology company focused on the development of anti-cancer drugs. Its first FDA-approved product, Kadcyla, is sold worldwide by Roche Pharma for the treatment of Her2-positive breast cancer. Dr. Sayare began his professional career as an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Sayare serves on the boards of several for-profit companies, including NASDAQ-listed Altimmune, of which he is also chairman; Advanced Aesthetic Technologies; and Energesis. He is chairman of the board of The Lundquist Institute in Los Angeles, a member of the Dean’s Council of the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is co founder of the ASU Health Futures Council.

Donna Johnson

Board Vice-Chair
Donna of Paradise Valley has served as a human resources executive and consultant for the airline industry and nonprofit sector. She shared her experience with students as an adjunct faculty for the Organizational Leadership program at Arizona State University. Johnson has held leadership positions among various Arizona nonprofit organizations for the past 20 years. She currently serves as the Vice President of Advancement for the Phoenix Country Day School Board of Trustees, Phoenix Art Museum’s Circles Advisory Council, and the Arizona Costume Institute’s Board of Directors.

Stacy Tucker

Board Treasurer Finance & Investment Committee Chair
Stacy is responsible for the administration and execution of the Flinn Foundation’s policies and procedures relating to investments, grants administration, accounting, budgeting, internal controls, and employee benefits. She also oversees the investment portfolio, preparation of the Flinn Foundation’s annual financial statements and tax returns, among other responsibilities. Previously, Stacy served as chief operating officer of a single-family office, where her responsibilities included management and oversight of a sizeable foundation. Additionally, she worked at Bar-S Foods Co. for 10 years and in the Phoenix and Los Angeles offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Stacy is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a master’s degree in business taxation from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego.

Ellen Katz

Board Secretary
Ellen Katz, originally from Dayton, Ohio, graduated from Northwestern University where she majored in Art History. After working at Harvard Business School as a course assistant, she moved to New York in 1972 where she still lives with her husband, Howard Katz. Ellen serves as a trustee of Northwestern University, Mount Sinai Health System, Lincoln Center Theater, the Child Mind Institute, and Phoenix Art Museum, which she chaired 2007-2010. Ellen and Howard are supporters of Arizona State University where they chaired the President’s Council, Honor Health, and the Arizona Science Center. Ellen and Howard split their time between Carefree, Manhattan, and Bridgehampton.
