August is Neurosurgery Awareness Month! 💙 Follow along this month as we highlight incredible patient stories, research updates, and accomplishments in neurosurgery made possible through philanthropy!

Your support is critical to ensuring the physicians, researchers, nurses, and staff at Barrow Neurological Institute can provide the best care to patients and families living with complex neurological conditions. Last year, we performed over 6,300 surgeries, trained the next generation of neurosurgeons, including 32 residents and fellows, and we were recently recognized by Doximity as having the No. 1 Neurosurgery residency program in the United States for the second year in a row!

THANK YOU for your support. This month, join us in making a difference in the field of neurosurgery! Learn more and support us today: https://bar.rw/45bAZsj. Link in bio. ☝️
⭐ We are so honored to spotlight a key team member: Mig Rosas, Barrow Neurological Foundation's intern! Mig is an undergraduate student at Northern Arizona University, and they spent the summer learning the ins and outs of a neurological non-profit under the mentorship of Morgan Stauffer, MPA, as part of the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program at Barrow! Here is what Mig had to say about this experience:

"Morgan has been a great mentor to me, balancing freedom to explore different aspects of fundraising work while still remaining available to support me. During this internship, I had the opportunity to gain a more holistic perspective of the organization's day-to-day operations and how each team contributes to the overall mission. The culture of philanthropy at Barrow confirms the transformational nature of the work being done on all fronts of the Institute, and the belief in the mission that carries throughout the organization and beyond." - Mig Rosas

Please join us in saying THANK YOU to Mig for their incredible work! 🙌

Repost @barrowneuro// For the second consecutive year, the Doximity Residency Navigator has ranked #BarrowNeurologicalInstitute in #Phoenix, #Arizona as having the No. 1 #neurosurgeryresidency program in the United States.

As an online networking service for medical professionals, Doximity updates its Residency Navigator each year to empower graduating medical students to make informed decisions when applying for #residency programs in various specialties. According to Doximity’s website, approximately 90 percent of graduating fourth-year #medicalstudents use this directory.

The 2025-26 rankings culminate satisfaction surveys of current residents and recent alumni, nominations by board-certified physicians within each specialty, and objective data from various public sources.

Burke, MD, Karsten Solheim Chair for Dementia Research and Medical Director of the Barrow Alzheimer's and Memory Disorders Program, and Marwan Sabbagh, MD, FAAN, Moreno Family Chair for Alzheimer’s Research and Vice Chair of Neurology Research, answer some of the most common questions about the disease, and the importance of philanthropy to Alzheimer's research and patient care. 🌍 #BarrowGlobal update: Our Barrow Global team recently visited Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Tanzania, East Africa, continuing our groundbreaking neurosurgical partnership established in 2022. Before, KCMC didn't have a neurosurgical training program, meaning general surgeons handled complex cases.

Thanks to the Franke family in establishing the Franke Global Neuroscience Education Center at Barrow Neurological Institute, Barrow is implementing a "Train Forward" model, bringing Western neuroscience specialists to developing nations for extended in-country training.
