Three New Trustees Join Barrow Neurological Foundation Board

PHOENIX (April 22, 2019) – Barrow Neurological Foundation has announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees: Donna Johnson, Jordan R. Rose and Dr. Mitchel Sayare. As the new chair of the Barrow Women’s Board, Amy Thurston will also serve on the Board of Trustees during her term. Members provide governance over the Barrow Neurological Foundation which works with donors to provide the resources for the world’s leading specialists at Barrow Neurological Institute to save lives.

“With philanthropic, legal and biomedical leadership experience, these individuals bring a wealth of knowledge to complement the outstanding board that governs our Foundation,” said Katie Cobb, president of the Foundation. “We are eager to learn from their expertise as we accept the challenge of raising critical funds to further the lifesaving care happening at Barrow every day.”

Donna Johnson of Paradise Valley has served as a human resources executive and consultant for the airline industry and nonprofit sector. She shared her experience with students as an adjunct faculty for the Organizational Leadership program at Arizona State University. Johnson has held leadership positions among various Arizona nonprofit organizations for the past 20 years. She currently serves as the Board Treasurer for the Arizona Women’s Board; Vice President of Advancement for the Phoenix Country Day School Board of Trustees, and Council Vice chairman for the University of Chicago Parent and Family Council.

In 18 years, Jordan R. Rose has grown the Scottsdale-based Rose Law Group into the largest, woman-owned law firm in Arizona history. The Rose Law Group is a full-service business and real estate firm, and the firm has been honored among the top four Best Places to Work in Arizona for small-sized businesses by the Phoenix Business Journal and BestCompaniesAZ for five years running. Governor Doug Ducey recently appointed Rose to the statewide Groundwater Work Group to draft legislation for responsible usage. She is an active member of Urban Land Institute and a founding member of Pinal Partnership, as well as its current Chairman of the Board.

Dr. Mitchel Sayare was co-founder, Chairman and CEO of NASDAQ-listed ImmunoGen, Inc. (IMGN), a billion-dollar biotechnology company focused on the development of anti-cancer drugs. Its first FDA-approved product, Kadcyla, is sold worldwide by Roche Pharma for the treatment of Her2-positive breast cancer. Dr. Sayare serves on the boards of several for-profit companies, including NASDAQ-listed Altimmune and Boston IVF, the largest IVF medical practice in the U.S. He is a member of the Dean’s Council of the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and is co-founder of the ASU Health Futures Council.

The Board of Trustees, comprised of community members who serve on a voluntary basis, governs the Barrow Neurological Foundation. The initial appointment is for one year, with reappointment for up to three consecutive three-year terms.
