🖼️ A powerful, bilingual art exhibit is now open through Oct. 3! The Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center at Barrow Neurological Institute has partnered with Creighton University to host a new art exhibit showcasing incredible works by individuals with #Parkinson's disease and their care partners. It offers a powerful glimpse into their daily experiences, emotions, and resilience.

This FREE exhibit is open to the public and presented in both English and Spanish.

Many of these pieces were created through the Center's Expressive Arts Program, which uses art as a therapeutic tool to reduce stress and support well-being. Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of patients and caregivers, contributing to one of the nation's most robust community outreach programs.

Fluent in four languages, Kris's world was built on words. Then, a devastating diagnosis threatened to take it all away: an #AVM was found located right next to the language center of his brain.

"Language is my entire world, and I couldn't imagine a life deprived of it."

His doctors said it was inoperable. But Kris found hope and a second chance with Michael T. Lawton, MD, President and CEO of Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Lawton successfully removed the AVM while preserving Kris's ability to speak, translate, and lead the life he loves. 👉🏼 Read Kris's full journey and learn how you can help: https://bar.rw/4g7FjxU.

Every day, the experts at Barrow Neurological Institute accept the challenge of providing care to patients who have been told there’s nothing more anyone can do for them. Barrow gives these patients, and their loved ones, hope for the future.

New article alert! Shafeeq Lahda, MD, director of the Gregory W. Fulton ALS and Neuromuscular Disease Center at Barrow Neurological Institute, highlights the transformative power of philanthropy in an article from Neurology Today. ⬇️

He describes the beginnings of the now esteemed Center, remarking that, "The clinic was very small; we didn't have great resources; we had a very bare bones team; we didn't really have any translational research to offer patients." Now, through the support of generous donors, the Center has a world-renowned research program and is the largest ALS clinic west of the Mississippi River. We are incredibly grateful for donor support that makes this possible.

"It's been six years since I received the cochlear implants, and my whole life has changed. I can have conversations with my wife and children again. I can be a supportive husband and an involved dad. And I don't feel isolated or alone anymore. I cannot thank Barrow and Dr. Stevens enough for that." - Michael Clark.

When Michael lost his hearing, his days were filled with anxiety and stress. The husband and father of three was worried he could lose his job, home, and ability to provide for his family. Then, he met Dr. Stevens and learned about the option of #cochlearimplants. With your support, the Department of ENT and Skull Base Surgery at Barrow Neurological Institute gives hope to patients and their families, impacting over 3,800 patients last year as Arizona's #1 hearing implant program.
