Barrow Neurological Foundation Announces Eight New Appointments to Board of Trustees

Barrow Neurological Foundation has announced the appointment of eight new members to its Board of Trustees: Ron Butler, Dan Dillon, Jr., Harold Dorenbecher, Glenn Hamer, Malcom Jozoff, Mike Lovell, Shoshana Tancer, and Robert Uhl. The Barrow Neurological Foundation is the catalyst of its donors’ passion for transformation by providing the resources necessary for patient care, education and research at Barrow Neurological Institute, a world-renowned neuroscience center.

A certified public accountant, Ron Butler is a managing partner at Ernst & Young Arizona, with more than 27 years of public accounting experience serving global clients. Butler’s extensive global client list includes Freeport-McMoRan, Newmont Mining Corporation, Republic Services, Go Daddy, Microchip Technology, Hypercom Corporation and Ventana Medical Systems. He has held chairman and executive board positions for various major foundations in Arizona, including the Arizona Community Foundation, Downtown Phoenix Partnership, Teach for America, Expect More Arizona, Arizona Science Center, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. He also is a member of the University of Arizona Eller College National Board of Advisors and W.P. Carey School of Business Dean’s Council.

A seasoned marketing executive in the consumer products, restaurant and higher education industries, Dan Dillon, Jr., serves as the chief marketing officer for Arizona State University. He designed, launched and currently leads the Enterprise Marketing Hub, an internal marketing agency that provides strategy and services to units within the university and oversees the university brands. Dillon has previously served in executive-level marketing roles with Ruby Tuesday, Inc., Outback Steakhouse, The Coca-Cola Company, Con Agra Frozen Food and H.J. Heinz.

Harold Dorenbecher is the senior vice president and lead relationship manager in the Wealth Advisory Group of Northern Trust, where he specializes in assisting individuals and families with their complex financial matters. He has more than 40 years of experience specializing in personal trust, fiduciary, and philanthropic administration and planning. Dorenbecher currently holds positions on the Board of Directors for the Desert Botanical Garden and Act One, and is a Trustee for the Phoenix Art Museum Foundation and the Richard F. Caris Foundation. He is also president of the Literary and Prologue Society of the Southwest and is a member of the Social Venture Partners and a Valley Leadership Alumni, Class IX.

As president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2006, Glenn Hamer has overseen the organization’s development into one of the most respected pro-business public policy entities in the state. He represents the Arizona Chamber on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Public Affairs Committee and its Committee of 100, is a member of the board of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and serves as the vice chairman of the Arizona Charter Schools Association. Hamer previously served as chief of staff to Congressman Matt Salmon, executive director of the Arizona Republican Party, and legislative assistant to Senator Jon Kyl. He has been named a Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal and the state’s best powerbroker by the Arizona Capitol Times.

Malcom “Mal” Jozoff is a retired senior executive with more than 50 years of experience as a business leader, most notably as Chairman, President and CEO of The Dial Corporation. Jozoff most recently held an advisory position with Otsuka Holdings Co., LTD, a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company. He spent 25 years in significant leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, serving as Global Sector President and a member of the corporation’s Executive Committee. Jozoff has taught a business leadership course in the MBA program at Arizona State University for five years and was the Vice Chairman of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra for 10 years.

Mike Lovell is the CEO and founder of Team Select Home Care, the leading provider of Medicare and Medicaid certified skilled home care services in the Southwest. He has been a leader in revolutionizing the shift from post-acute hospital based care to the home based setting, driving cost containment while enhancing patient outcomes through pioneering the use of data analytics as an innovative tool. Lovell supports many community organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club, Skate After School and the Great Hearts Academies charter schools.

Dr. Shoshana Tancer is a practicing lawyer, who, in addition to receiving a JD from the University of Michigan, earned a PhD in political science from Columbia University. She practices at Tancer Law Firm, PLC, serving the community with a focus on international transactions and immigration, and has been Of Counsel on immigration and foreign legal transactions to several local law firms. Tancer is Professor Emeritus at Thunderbird Graduate School of International Management, where she previously served as Director of the NAFTA Center and testified before the United States International Trade Commission. She was the first female Vice President of the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board of a number of Valley civic organizations, including the Arizona Opera, Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations and Phoenix Country Day School.

Robert “Bob” Uhl, chairman and CEO of Realty Rewards, LLC, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He also spent over 30 years with Bar-S Foods Co., the best-selling hot dog brand in the United States, where he was most recently the vice chairman. Uhl and his wife are supporters of United Way of Northern Arizona, Homebase Youth Services, and the Arizona State University Foundation, and he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from United Cerebral Palsy of Arizona.

The Board of Trustees, comprised of community members who serve on a voluntary basis, governs the Barrow Neurological Foundation. The initial appointment is for one year, with reappointment for up to three consecutive three-year terms.
