Markos Tambakeras Joins Barrow Neurological Foundation Board of Trustees

PHOENIX, AZ (November 18, 2021) – Barrow Neurological Foundation is pleased to announce Markos Tambakeras as a member of its Board of Trustees. Mr. Tambakeras led the Board of Xylem, Inc. as an independent Chair from 2011, when Xylem was spun off from its parent, ITT Corp., until May 2020. He continues to serve on the Xylem Board as Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Kennametal, Inc. from 1999 until his retirement in 2006, and as Chairman of Kennametal’s Board from 2002–2006. He has also served on the Boards of ITT Corp., Parker-Hannifin Corp., and Newport Corp.

Prior to joining Kennametal, Mr. Tambakeras enjoyed a long career with Honeywell, Inc., and for his last two assignments served as President, Industrial Controls Business from 1995–1999 and President, Asia Pacific from 1992–1994.

Mr. Tambakeras has served as Chair of the Board of Make-A-Wish International since 2016. He previously served on the Board of Trustees of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and Arizona State University Foundation. He also served on the U.S. President’s Council on Manufacturing from 2003–2005 and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI, the manufacturing industry’s leading executive development and business research organization, from 2003–2004.

Mr. Tambakeras received his BS in chemical engineering from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and his MBA in marketing from Loyal Marymount University in Los Angeles, California.

The Board of Trustees, which comprises community members who serve on a voluntary basis, governs Barrow Neurological Foundation. Initial Board appointments are for one year, with reappointment for up to three consecutive three-year terms.
