🎨 Bonnie Hill-Dowdy has always used art to express her thoughts and emotions and to reflect on her experiences. Over the years, the Arizona artist has amassed an extensive portfolio. Yet - there are two pieces she always finds herself coming back to. The first is a painting of a brain in a state of chaos, with a large tumor at its center. The second is a scan of the same brain, only this time, five small flowers are attacking the tumor. These are Bonnie's most personal works because they portray her own harrowing brain tumor journey.

We are pleased to share that Barrow Neurological Foundation has been selected as a cornerstone beneficiary of the newly launched Arizona Cardinals Foundation! Carrying on a tradition of charitable giving, the Arizona Cardinals Foundation will support the creation of a comprehensive neurological care platform specialized for individuals 16 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), including cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, autism, and related neurologic disorders such as epilepsy.

The primary goal of this dedicated platform is to ensure a seamless transition of #neurological care for patients moving from a familiar pediatric health care team to a new, adult-focused health system. Please join us in saying 'Thank You' to the Arizona Cardinals Foundation for their support!
#InternSpotlight! Meet Ruby, a participant in the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program at Barrow Neurological Institute and a student at @arizonastateuniversity! This summer, Ruby studied in the Virtual Reality (VR) Spine Laboratory under the mentorship of Ryan Ehredt, MS, where she developed a color alert system and a VR headset for pedicle screw simulation. Training tools like this help neurosurgeons map out the safest way to navigate around the spine before entering the operating room. Watch this video to see her project in action!

Join us in congratulating Ruby on the completion of her internship!
🙌 We are so honored to share this amazing update (and history lesson!): ⬇️

The Preul Neurosurgery Fellowship, established in 2001, funds two neurosurgery research fellows per year under the mentorship of Mark Preul, MD, director of neurosurgery research at Barrow Neurological Institute. To date, this fellowship has supported over a third of the 150+ fellows who have trained in Dr. Preul's laboratory, allowed for the publication of 550 journal articles, and trained the leading neurosurgeons who are now making a profound impact on neurosurgical care worldwide!

Thank you for your unwavering support and for helping us shape the future of neurosurgery. These remarkable statistics would not be possible without you.

⭐ We are so honored to spotlight a key team member: Mig Rosas, Barrow Neurological Foundation's intern! Mig is an undergraduate student at Northern Arizona University, and they spent the summer learning the ins and outs of a neurological non-profit under the mentorship of Morgan Stauffer, MPA, as part of the Summer Undergraduate Internship Program at Barrow! Here is what Mig had to say about this experience:

"Morgan has been a great mentor to me, balancing freedom to explore different aspects of fundraising work while still remaining available to support me. During this internship, I had the opportunity to gain a more holistic perspective of the organization's day-to-day operations and how each team contributes to the overall mission. The culture of philanthropy at Barrow confirms the transformational nature of the work being done on all fronts of the Institute, and the belief in the mission that carries throughout the organization and beyond." - Mig Rosas

Please join us in saying THANK YOU to Mig for their incredible work! 🙌
