Barrow is home to 151 Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurses (CNRNs), more than any other hospital in the world. A driving force behind this culture of #NursingExcellence was Linda Hunt.

Even if you didn’t know Linda personally, it’s likely that you or a loved one has received care within a system shaped by her leadership. She rose from bedside nurse to the President and CEO of Dignity Health’s Southwest Market but always remained a nurse at heart—prioritizing patients and their families.

Linda cemented her legacy with an estate gift to the Barrow Neurological Foundation, empowering nurses to lead, innovate, and pursue the #AdvancedResearch and #Edcucation that define world-class care.

While certain #NeurologicalDisorders have inherited components, most develop through complex interactions among genetics, lifestyle, environmental exposures, and other factors.

With your support, Barrow researchers pioneered the first study confirming the link between Parkinson`s and air pollution. They are also investigating the role of herbicide exposure in accelerating #Alzheimers and #Parkinsons progression. Learn more through the link in bio.

We are deeply saddened to share the recent passing of beloved Valley philanthropist and Barrow Neurological Foundation Board member, Ira A. Fulton.

Ira’s connection to @BarrowNeuro was deeply personal. His son, Gregory Wayne Fulton, received care at Barrow during his with #ALS. After Gregory’s passing, Ira approached Dr. Shafeeq Ladha with a desire to make a difference, leading to a transformational gift establishing the Gregory W. Fulton ALS and Neuromuscular Disease Center.

“As a philanthropist, Ira was special. I’ll never forget what he said to me when we discussed developing the Fulton Center. ‘I know you can’t save my son, but I want to try to help make sure this doesn’t happen to others in the future,’” said Dr. Ladha.

Because of Ira’s vision, countless people living with ALS and their families have access to better care and renewed hope. His legacy will continue to change lives for generations to come.

Behind every milestone we reached this year is a dedicated team member going above and beyond at Barrow Neurological Foundation! We’re thrilled to conclude a successful 2026 fiscal year having raised over $28M, thanks to our generous donors, and celebrate the incredible team that helped make it happen behind the scenes!

We had an amazing year, from supporting our community at the Cardinals Climb to helping bring new pilot projects to fruition at @BarrowNeuro, and everything in between. We could not have done this without the hard work and commitment of our team members day in and day out. Here’s to another year of making an impact together!

Many individuals experience significant non-motor symptoms, including sleep disorders, depression, anxiety, impulse-control disorders, hallucinations, fatigue, and more. These symptoms can have just as much impact on quality of life as motor symptoms.
