Sabrina`s story is a powerful testament to the difference expert care at Barrow can make. You won`t want to miss it! With your support, the talented staff at Barrow can create more stories like hers. Read it at bar.rw/sabrina (Link in bio).
👉 Repost @BarrowNeuro - After feeling a "pop" in her back and sudden heaviness in her legs, Sabrina Mancini spent the next eight years seeking an accurate diagnosis as her neurological symptoms worsened.
Finally, she learned she had a rare blood vessel abnormality in her spinal cord that would be risky to treat—but even riskier to leave alone.
After requesting an online second opinion from Barrow President and CEO and vascular neurosurgeon michael_t_lawton, MD, Sabrina traveled more than 2,000 miles from Middlebury, Connecticut to Phoenix, Arizona to undergo surgery for her spinal cord cavernous malformation.
"It was the best decision I ever made," she said.

We were honored to join AZ Family News to highlight our partnership with the Arizona Cardinals Foundation as a cornerstone beneficiary. This collaboration underscores how philanthropic support is a crucial component to bridge the gap in neurologic healthcare for young people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) as they transition into adult-care programs.
The Arizona Cardinals Foundation`s support is critical in making our vision a reality:
"Our vision is to develop a comprehensive neurological healthcare program that will improve the lifespan and health span of our patients living with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as create a model that can be replicated nationally and internationally, thus improving the care of people worldwide." — Brad A. Racette, MD, FAAN, Senior Vice President of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute.
We couldn`t be more grateful to partner with the Arizona Cardinals Foundation on this impactful initiative.
